We are happy to confirm that the $8,000 first-time home buyer tax credit has in fact been extended.
The tax credit, originally set up as a no-interest loan back in 2008, was converted this year as a full tax credit as part of the stimulus package for "first-time" buyers only. The new law extends the tax credit to all sales up to April 30, 2010, and extends the credit to existing home owners as well.
According to the Associated Press, the House voted 403-12 in favor of the law granting the extension.

Santa Barbara, CA Sept 29, 2009 - RealtyStore (www.realtystore.com), the nation's leading provider of foreclosure listings, released its August 2009 Foreclosure Report for the State of Washington.
"UPPER GRANDVIEW, NEW YORK - In the midst of foreclosure, actor Stephen Baldwin's hamlet home seems to be costing him far more than the $515,000 he paid for it in 1997.
"The 1.4-acre Old Mountain Road home will be up for public auction June 24 at Rockland County Court after Baldwin and his wife, Kennya, defaulted on paying $824,488.36 to mortgage holder Bankers Trust Co.
Foreclosures are still stacking up around the country, and experts are saying there is more to come.
“We won't see a decline until 2011,” said Rick Weinberg, spokesman for auction company Real Estate Disposition Corp. (REDC).
“Foreclosures will be increasing dramatically,” he said. “This is the worst foreclosure crisis in US history.”
