This property is offered for sale directly by the owner. This leaves more room for price negotiation and potential buyer savings.

This listing is NOT a foreclosure. Hello prospective buyer! Just a short note to introduce you to the gem of DeQuincy that we currently call home. We love this house so much, its difficult to know where to start. Lets start outside. This home stole our hearts right away with its expansive and impressive yard. There are mature azaleas, camellias, gardenia, citrus, blueberry, and more. There is enough room for much more, so for the landscape lover the possibilities are endless! And the size. For the young family, there is plenty of space for the kids to play and explore. The endless backyard is great for dogs, even those that like to run. The flowing, sloping front yard is not only aesthetically appealing but also drains well. There is also a large, slightly separated, plot with road frontage that could be developed into a saleable lot or mother-in-law space. With the size of this yard, you wont even notice the difference. The yard is spectacular, but the house does not take a back seat. Wrapped in cedar, this rather unique plantation style home was actually a design from Better Homes and Gardens, circa 1960s. For your history buffs, we have kept all the hand drawn blueprints, design samples, etc. from the original build. The original owner and builder took great care in the design, build, and maintenance of this home and it shows. As a craftsman myself, having looked at the inner workings of hundreds of structures, I can tell you that this house is one of the most well-built homes I have inspected. It was obviously built with care and, in my opinion, with far superior wood than modern homes. It has aged marvelously and will be around longer than some of the houses being built right now. The grand entry, the full-length balcony, the original solid wood doors, the brick fireplace, all these things are fantastic but what you also quickly realize, after living here, is how comfortable the house is. The design is functionally perfect and easy to maintain. The structure is well insulated and has a separate HVAC unit for each floor, which combine for surprisingly low energy bills. We recently replaced the entire upstairs unit inside and out. There is also a separate water heater for both floors which also helps with efficiency and the comfort of never running out of hot water even with a large family. For those starting a new family, one bedroom has a sink and a laundry chute, perfect for a nursery! It is the perfect canvas for some renovations that can modernize and still hold onto its timeless charm. And guess where all my family came when there was the threat of a hurricane? Our house. Its far enough north to evacuate without a fuss but also to avoid the threat of any storm surges and the flooding that occurs farther south. This is an oasis in the storm and theres plenty of room for guests. We comfortably hosted 10 people for an extended stay. Same with holiday parties and family gatherings, the house is perfectly laid out to enjoy. Last but not least, the neighborhood. Quiet. Safe. Clean. Quite simply, Ive never felt safer in a home. All the nearby houses are well maintained with large, beautiful yards. Respectful neighbors. Just a wonderful spot. If you dont work here in DeQuincy, like me, the commute is very manageable. Those who work in Lake Charles can avoid the bridge traffic by taking an alternate route through Moss Bluff. Those who work west of the bridge can literally be there in a half hour. You get the best of both worlds, access to the metro area plus the cleaner, quieter environment just a few miles north. I think I covered most of the important stuff so Ill end here. Thank you for reading and I hope you are the lucky one that decides to make this magnificent property your home.
